What is Skydiving?
Skydiving is a sport where a person is required to jump or fall off a plane, with a parachute. They then open the parachute to break their fall. Skydiving is also called parachuting, but because skydiving sounds cooler, it is called skydiving. Tricks can be performed during the fall but as many people are inexperienced or scared of heights, they tend to fall straight down.
This sport is not dangerous if all the safety precautions are taken. On average a year, 3 million people skydive and only 35 people have had accidents. This is less than 1% so this sport is not so dangerous. Although it is not so dangerous, it still is extremely scary and adrenaline rushing, and is required to be played before some other sports such as BASE jumping is played.

History of Skydiving:
Skydiving dates back to when Leonardo Da Vinci sketched his first blueprints for the first parachute in 1485. People soon found his blueprint and tried to make the parachute. As time passed, they successfully made the parachutes and were used to save lives.
They were used in the army as a way for people in planes to save themselves. If in any case, the plane were to go down during battle, the pilot and his men could jump out with the parachute and save themselves. The parachutes also contained a life jacket as if the pilot or the men were to fall into the water, they would have a higher chance of survival. Parachutes saved many lives, and were soon had more purposes. They were soon used to drop men onto the battlefields. This meant reinforcement came quicker and in more numbers turn the tides of battle.
Parachutes have changed over the years and have become lighter and easier to use. People soon used it for entertainment and this was how skydiving can to existence.

His jump over the arid countryside near Roswell, New Mexico was amazing. He broke the record by jumping 128,100 feet (39,045 metres). This was about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) higher than he had expected to go.
During his jump and descend, he broke the speed of sound by reaching the speed of 833.9 mph (1342.8 km/h) while in freefall. He broke the sound barrier with a huge bang which was heard by the audience.
Felix also attempted to get the highest record for the longest freefall, but he failed by 36 seconds. His 3 minutes 44 seconds did not match U.S Air Force Col. Joe Kittinger’s 4 minutes 20 seconds. It was because he fell down too fast, which cover too much ground for him.
